Terms of Service
Please read these terms carefully before using ukmlace. By creating an account or using any part of the service, you agree to be bound by these terms.

1. About ukmlace
UKMLACE Ltd ("we", "us", "our") operates ukmlace, an AI-assisted educational platform designed to help international medical graduates (IMGs) prepare for the PLAB 2 OSCE examination. Our services include practice simulations, study content, peer practice features, mock examination bookings where available, and performance analytics.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our website at ukmlace.org and all associated services (collectively, the "Service"). For questions, contact us at support@ukmlace.org.
2. No affiliation with GMC or PLAB exam bodies
UKMLACE Ltd is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the General Medical Council (GMC), the PLAB exam board, or any official examination authority. All content on the Service is independently created for educational and study purposes only, based on publicly available information and clinical guidelines. The Service does not offer official exam materials, guarantees of exam performance, or recognition from any regulator.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use ukmlace. By using the Service, you confirm that you are 18 or older and that all information you provide is accurate and complete. ukmlace is intended for qualified medical graduates and medical students preparing for clinical examinations. It is not suitable for use by members of the general public seeking medical advice.
4. Account registration and security
You may register with an email and password or via Google OAuth. You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately at support@ukmlace.org if you suspect any unauthorised access to your account. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your account credentials.
You agree not to share your account with others. Each account is for a single individual. We reserve the right to suspend accounts we believe are being shared or used fraudulently.
5. Subscription plans and billing
ukmlace offers free and paid subscription tiers. Paid subscriptions are billed on a recurring monthly or annual basis. By subscribing, you authorise us to charge your payment method via Stripe on each renewal date until you cancel.
Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will retain access to paid features until that date and will not receive a prorated refund for unused time, except where required by applicable law.
Free trial upgrades: If a free trial is available and you are charged after converting, you have 7 days from the first charge to request a full refund if you have not used any paid features.
Credit top-ups: practice session credits are purchased as one-time payments. Unused credits do not expire while your account remains active. Credits are non-transferable and have no cash value.
Price changes: We may change subscription prices with at least 30 days' prior notice. Price changes do not apply retroactively to your current billing period. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new price.
All payments are processed securely by Stripe, Inc. We do not store your full card details on our servers. By making a payment, you also agree to Stripe's Terms of Service.
6. Mock examination bookings
ukmlace facilitates bookings between students and verified examiner doctors for live mock OSCE sessions. Payment for mock bookings is processed at the time of booking and is distributed to the examiner upon session completion, minus a platform service fee.
Cancellations and no-shows are subject to the refund terms set out in our Refund Policy. ukmlace acts as an intermediary platform and is not responsible for the quality of individual mock sessions beyond facilitating the connection between student and examiner.
7. Automated content and medical disclaimer
Certain features on ukmlace — including practice simulations, session feedback, and study recommendations — may use automated or machine-learning systems provided by third parties. Output is provided for educational purposes only and may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated.
ukmlace is an educational tool, not a medical device. Nothing on the platform constitutes medical advice, clinical guidance, or a substitute for formal medical training and supervision. You must not use our platform in any real clinical or patient-care context.
Session transcripts and session feedback are stored and may be used to improve platform quality. Recordings are not shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the platform, other users' accounts, or our infrastructure.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from any part of the Service.
- Reproduce, distribute, or resell any platform content or study materials without written permission.
- Harass, abuse, or threaten other users, including examiner doctors, through the platform's communication features.
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the Service or harvest platform data.
- Provide false information during account registration or mock booking processes.
We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate any account in breach of these terms without prior notice.
9. Intellectual property
All content on ukmlace — including station notes, marking guides, platform design, software code, and branding — is owned by or licensed to ukmlace and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial study purposes only.
You retain ownership of any content you directly author within the platform (such as personal notes). By submitting content, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to store and process that content solely for the purpose of delivering the Service to you.
10. Third-party services
ukmlace integrates third-party services to deliver features. Their respective terms and privacy policies apply in addition to ours. Non-exhaustive examples include:

- Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage.
- Third-party automation and speech providers — where used for educational simulations, feedback, or voice features.
- Vercel — website hosting and edge delivery.
- Railway — backend API and related server hosting.
We are not responsible for the practices, availability, or content of third-party services.
11. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ukmlace shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or examination results, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
12. Termination
You may close your account at any time by contacting support@ukmlace.org. We may suspend or terminate your access immediately if you breach these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if we are required to do so by law. Upon termination, your right to access the Service ceases. Sections 9, 11, and 13 survive termination.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising under these Terms that cannot be resolved amicably shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or via a prominent notice on the platform at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you must stop using the Service before they take effect.
